The last major event of men’s cricket, the mega fixture in ODIs, World Cup 2019, treated one and all with a spectacle of individual brilliance and some last-minute dramas. England won the World Cup by the barest of margins in boundary count against New Zealand. There was something to cheer for Indian cricket fans despite the two-time champions did not feature in the Cricket World Cup 2019 final.

The cricketing stars across the globe rose up to the grand occasion and did all the talking with their performances. Some of the batters almost took their side to the knockout stages of the competition; single-handedly through their mammoth tally of runs. Indian squad for the Cricket World Cup 2023 has finally been announced. There are a few big names missing from the previous World Cup.

In his six years of international cricket, Hardik Pandya has had his fair share of injury concerns. Pandya’s biggest battle with injury was his back. Pandya played in the 2019 World Cup in England, scoring 226 runs at a strike rate of 112.43. Hardik also picked up 10 wickets with the ball at an economy rate of 5.65. He was crucial in India’s way to the sem-final. Pandya scored 26 runs and took two crucial wickets to help India win their match against arch-rivals Pakistan.

He had smashed a quick-fire 48 off 27 balls against Australia. This time he will be the vice-captain of the team in World Cup 2023. The all-rounder has become a key player in India’s white-ball squad and is among the leading players. He will have more responsibility as a senior player and vice-captain of the team and will have to use all his white ball experience in the middle order for Team India.
