Former India opener makes interesting predictions on Rohit Sharma and Babar Azam
India and Pakistan skippers, Rohit Sharma and Babar Azam respectively will lead their teams for the first time in an ODI World Cup. The latter led the team to semis and a final in the T20 World Cups 2021 and 2022 respectively. On the other hand, Sharma led India to the semis, losing to eventual champions, England. Meanwhile, former India opener and two-time World Cup winner, Gautam Gambhir has predicted Sharma and Azam’s performance during the tournament.
The left-hander was interacting with Star Sports and said that Sharma would score three to four double-hundreds. The latter has three to his name in ODIs between 2013 and 2017. Since then, the two-time World Champion hasn’t scored a double hundred apart from the one Test double hundred in 2019 against South Africa.
“The kind of ability he has. India is playing the World Cup at home. We all know about Rohit Sharma’s record at home. He has three or four double hundreds. So I’m sure he will be really looking forward to and he will be eager to turn it around for India,” former India opener Gambhir said.

The former India skipper for six ODIs added that Azam can score three to four hundreds in the upcoming tournament.
“The kind of technique Babar Azam has, I think he will score three or four centuries for Pakistan in this World Cup,” Gambhir added.
Recently, the 2017 Champions Trophy winner scored 80 off 84 balls against New Zealand in a warm-up game. However, the team lost the game badly. They will Australia next on October 3 before the tournament kicks off on October 5 in Ahmedabad.
