Team India are currently on a mission in the ongoing 2023 ODI World Cup and there is excitement and prayer for their success across the country. Meanwhile, ahead of India’s high-intensity encounter against Pakistan on October 14, special prayers were offered at Mahakaleshwar temple in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain.
The arch-rivals are currently locking horns at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. A video of priests performing a special pooja on Saturday for the Men in Blue’s success against Pakistan is going viral on social media. In a video posted by news agency PTI on X, several priests were seen performing Aarti as well.

Every festival starts with prayers of Baba Mahakal: The temple priest
Speaking to the media, Gaurav Sharma, a priest at the Mahakaleshwar temple, said that an IND – PAK World Cup match is no less than a festival in India. With the blessings of Lord Mahakal, Rohit Sharma and Co. will dominate their arch-rivals, he added.
“Today there is a big match between India and Pakistan in the Cricket World Cup. The big match is not less than a festival in India. As every festival starts with prayers of Baba Mahakal (Lord Shiva), today, in the same way, all priests of the temple have offered prayers to Lord Mahakal for the victory of the Indian team,” said Gaurav.
“With the blessings of Lord Mahakal, India should emerge victorious in today’s match and it was also wished that India should lift the World Cup,” he added.
Can India continue to dominate Pakistan?
India have a massive record against the Men in Green. The two have met seven times in the ODI World Cups, with India winning on all occasions. Looking at the head-to-head record, India have the psychological advantage but Babar Azam‘s men cannot be underestimated. Both India and Pakistan are coming off the back of two straight wins. India had won the first two matches against Australia and Afghanistan. On the other hand, Pakistan defeated the Netherlands and Sri Lanka.
