Former Australian cricketer Michael Vaughan recently discussed Virat Kohli’s stand-up performance in the ODI World Cup 2023. In the five matches the Indian cricket team has played in the ODI World Cup across multiple venues in India, the team’s former captain Virat Kohli has given consistent high-scoring performances to lead the team towards victory.

Michael believes no cricketer is better than Virat Kohli when it comes to chasing a target. As per the Australian commentator, Virat Kohli is expected to score his 50th ODI century in the ODI World Cup 2023 itself. Notably, Virat Kohli is just one century behind Sachin Tendulkar to surpass him as the batter with more centuries in ODI cricket.

“Virat Kohli in the chase, there’s no one better. It wouldn’t surprise me if he gets a 49th before the final, and his 50th in the final. It’s written in the stars. I put it on social media – great, great players always arrive in World Cups. It defines their legacies. Look at the footballers, Lionel Messi had to win the World Cup for Argentina, and he did it. Virat has already won a World Cup but you just feel he’s going to drive the Indian team all the way,” said Michael Vaughan.

“I’d love to know how they (India) can be stopped. I can’t see at the minute. Yes, you can get early wickets. But the pitches aren’t going to do much. How are you going to get them 3-4 down quickly? Aussies were the closest to surprise them when they got 3 out early in Chennai, but I don’t see how anyone will get close to them,” added Vaughan.

“I have always worked on how I can better myself every day, every practice session, every year and every season. So, that is what has helped me play for this long and perform,” said Virat Kohli on Star Sports.

“I don’t think it is possible to perform consistently without having that mindset because if performance is your goal, then one can get satisfied after a while and stop working on their game. It has always been my motto to chase betterment and not excellence because I honestly don’t know what the definition of excellence is”, he added.
