WATCH – An unusual situation occurring in T20 international in Adelaide Oval, Umpire rules batter not-out after team fails to appeal
Extremely bizarre scenes were witnessed at Adelaide Oval. The Left-arm pacers Spencer Johnson & Mitchell Marsh attempted a run out against Alzarri Joseph and didn’t appeal. Spencer Johnson moved on for his next run-up, and later, the big screen showed Alzarri short of his ground.
The incident occurred in the 19th over between Australia vs West Intest in the 2nd T20I at Adelaide Oval. Adelaide crowd saw a controversial and heated moment when the umpire overruled a run-out appeal against Alzarri Joseph. The controversial scenario took place in the final moments of the match when West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph, in an attempt to make a quick single. Spencer Johnson was bowling, Joseph smacked the bowl through the covers and attempted to take a single, however, a good throw from Tim David at the non-striker’s end, was taken by Spencer Johnson and smash the bails off. But none of the players appealed.

After some time, replays showed that Joseph was well short of the crease. Mitchell Marsh and co-star celebrated the wicket but the Umpire did not give out. From that moment things got worse. There were some heated exchanges between some Australian players and the onfield umpire, fielder Tim David expressing his frustration and said “This is ridiculous,” in response to the umpire’s confusing decision.
Although the run-out incident did not change the game’s outcome, Australia fully dominated the match and won comfortably in the end.
Australia scored a mammoth total of 242. Glenn Maxwell scored a splendid hundred. That was his 5th ton. he scored 120 0ff just 55 balls, hit 12 fours and 8 huge sixes. Tim David also scored quick-fire 31 runs off just 14 balls.
In reply, West Indies scored 207/9 in their 20 overs. Skipper Rovman Powell scored 63 off 36 balls and Andre Russell scored 37 off 16 balls. It’s not enough to secure a win for them. Australia won by 35 runs and led the three-match T20 series by 2-0.
