Team India claim top spot in World Test Championship points table, check out their PCT
Team India grabbed the top spot on the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023–25 points standings on March 3 Sunday. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. reached the top spot as Australia defeated New Zealand in the opening Test of their two-match series on March 3.
Team India’s climb to the top of the WTC points table, at a rate of 64.58% PCT (%), was made possible by Australia’s comprehensive 172-run win over New Zealand in the opening Test of the two-match Test series between New Zealand and Australia. However, earlier, New Zealand was enjoying the top spot after their Test series win over South Africa, where they went on to defeat the Proteas by 2-0 in the two matches of the Test series.
However, the impact of the Australian win was seen across the WTC points table. Notably, India gained supremacy and moved up to the top, with a PCT of 64.58%. This historic milestone underlines India’s dominance in Test cricket worldwide and sets the way for a thrilling future.
India continues to fight to remain in its dominant position in WTC 2023-2025 Cycle
Meanwhile, with India securely in the driver’s seat, the focus is now on their upcoming match in Dharamsala against England, which is scheduled to take place from March 7 to 11. Notably, if India wins this crucial match, their standing in the top spot will be further solidified, and the team will have a strong PCT of 68.51. However, New Zealand, who are in the second spot, can also jump to the top spot if they go on to win in the second Test against Australia.
India continues to fight to remain in its dominant position; however, Australia and New Zealand are competing for the top rank. Meanwhile, Australia continues to be a formidable threat in the championship race, but New Zealand’s recent fall to second place may act as a call to action for them to get back to past glory.
