‘India were scared of us’ – Inzamam ul Haq questions India’s intent in IND vs PAK game

Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq feels India were under a lot of pressure before the start of their high-octane clash against Pakistan in the 20-20 World Cup. Babar Azam-led team created history by beating India for the first time in the showpiece event. It was a perfect all-around performance by Pakistan as they outplayed their archrivals to hand them a crushing 10 wicket defeat.
India, who were the pre-tournament favourites, were caught off-guard by Pakistan’s bold display. Inzamam feels India’s body language was not that great ahead of the iconic battle which gave an impression that the team was under tremendous pressure. “I feel the Indians were scared even before the match started. Their body language, if you see Virat Kohli and Babar Azam’s interview at the toss, you could sense who was under pressure,” Inzamam told on ARY Sports.
“Our team’s body language was much better than theirs. It wasn’t that India were under pressure after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal. Sharma himself was under pressure. It was evident that they all were under pressure even before the match began,” he stated.
Shaheen Shah Afridi set things up for Pakistan by dismissing Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul in the powerplay. The middle-order batters led by Virat Kohli tried to consolidate but failed to close out the innings as India settled for a par score. The former Pakistan captain further felt India could never recover from the loss against Pakistan. India also lost a crucial game against New Zealand and bowed out of the tournament from the group stage despite winning their final three games.
“Indian team never plays the way they did. They are a good T20 team, there is no doubt about it. If you look at their performance in the last 2-3 years, they were the favourites. But that India-Pakistan match put so much pressure on them that there was no looking back.
