Rahul Dravid’s sarcastic response to birthday wishes will leave you in splits
India head coach Rahul Dravid gave a funny reply to the birthday wishes he has been receiving from all corners of the world. The former India captain turned 49 today. Ahead of the third Test between India and South Africa, Dravid thanked all his well-wishers but said he is not quite sure if he has to be happy or sad celebrating his 49th birthday, citing the growing age.
“When you get older, you’re not sure what to feel when you get wished on your birthday. But it feels nice. Did get a lot of wishes from friends and family,” Dravid told former Zimbabwe cricketer and currently a broadcaster Pommie Mbangwa before the start of third India vs South Africa Test match in Cape Town.
The cricket fraternity extended his wishes to the veteran Indian player. Dravid is regarded as one of the best players to have graced a cricket field. Dravid represented India in 164 Tests, 344 ODIs and one T20I, scoring over 24,000 international runs.
Meanwhile, India and South Africa are locked in a crucial battle. The series is tied 1-1 and the winner in Cape Town will win the series. India have never won a series in South Africa and this is a golden opportunity for them to script history. Dravid said the Indian team is all charged up for of the game.
“At this level, you really don’t need to motivate the players. Playing for India and the opportunity to make history here is a big thing in itself. We’ve performed well in the series, the energy is good in the camp. We managed to get 272/3 on the first day of the series, that’s the kind of performances we expect when we get out to bat, obviously can’t get that every time but it shows the quality we have. If we have runs on the board, I’m sure we’ll be very competitive in this game,” Dravid said.
India have made two changes in their playing XI. Virat Kohli has come in place of Hanuma Vihari, while Umesh Yadav has replaced Mohammed Siraj.
