Road Safety World Series 2022: Sachin Tendulkar to not participate due to pending payments
It has been learned that Sachin Tendulkar will not be participating in the second edition of the Road Safety World Series due to the pending payments from the previous season. The former opener led India Legends to a victory in the inaugural season. The fans were excited to see him back on the field, however, he has opted out of the tournament.
Sachin Tendulkar was the brand ambassador for the series, and Sunil Gavaskar was the commissioner of the event. It has also been reported in the Bangladesh media that some of the prominent players from the country haven’t received full payments.
As reported by the Times of India Sachin and many other players have not received full payments. It further said, “Sachin will not be a part of RSWS this season. The tournament is marked from March 1-19 in the UAE but Sachin will not be a part of this tournament in any form.”
“Yes, Sachin is among many cricketers who took part in the tournament, who haven’t been paid by the organizers. And one needs to get in touch with a Ravi Gaikwad, who was the premier organizer,” TOI’s source added.
The teams and the players participating in the tournament were managed by Second Innings Sports and Entertainment. The payment was structured as; 10 percent at the time of signing, 40 percent on the 25th of February 2021, and the remaining 50 percent on the 31st of March 2021.
Other legends like Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Brian Lara, Jonty Rhodes, Kevin Pietersen, and many others participated in the first season. However, there is still a question mark on the participation of these players in the second season due to the payment issues.
