‘Rockstar!’ – Twitter reacts as Ravindra Jadeja notches up second Test century
Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has had a great run with the bat for a few years now. He has been one of the most consistent batters for India as he has had an average of close to 45 in Test cricket since 2018. That consistency has carried forward in the series against Sri Lanka as well.
The 33-year old walked into bat when Rishabh Pant was at the crease and the two made a good partnership. Jadeja stuck around at one end while Pant took on the spinners. The two added 104 runs on the board before Pant was dismissed at 96. Ravichandran Ashwin then walked in to bat and the runs kept coming for the two.
Jadeja still continued to hit the grounded strokes and Ashwin kept the scoreboard ticking. The two added 130 runs before Ashwin fell to Suranga Lakmal in the 110th over. He had a good strike rate throughout his innings of 61, he scored at a rate of close to 75. He hit 8 boundaries during this time.
Jadeja finally took out his ‘sword’ as he scored a single off the first ball in the next over to reach his second Test hundred. The left-hander never looked unsettled as he committed next to no errors in his innings. He played with a good strike rate of over and hit fours to reach his hundred. His partnerships with Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin helped India a lot in the first innings. The partnership with Ashwin particularly was very good as the two complement each other well.

Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin have batted together in Tests on 15 occasions.
On two occasions they have added 50-plus stands…
97 (7th wkt) vs England at Mohali in 2016
130 (7th wkt) vs Sri Lanka at Mohali in 2022#IndvSL #IndvsSL— Mohandas Menon (@mohanstatsman) March 5, 2022
Ravindra Jadeja is a rockstar.
Shane Warne knew it as far back as 2008, when Jadeja was a fresh Under-19 graduate.
