Sourav Ganguly drops massive details on Rishabh Pant’s return in IPL 2024

Delhi Capitals

The Indian Premier League(IPL) 2024 is about to begin and there is a lot of talk about the Delhi Capitals squad. Regarded as one of the underachieving sides in the league since they haven’t got their hands on the trophy even once. The Capitals have made it to the playoffs six times in the last 16 editions and even had a disappointing run last season where they finished as one of the bottom two teams.

However, the last few seasons have not been that bad for the Capitals. With Ricky Ponting as head coach, the side has made it to the playoffs 3 times in the last five years where they played their first-ever final in 2020. One of the stall warts for the Capitals during these years was left-handed wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant. Pant has been one of the best batters for the side scoring since his debut scoring 2,838 runs in 98 matches at an average of 34.61 and a strike rate of 147, with a century and 15 fifties. He even led the side to the playoffs in the 2021 season as well. Unfortunately, he had to miss the last season due to a tragic accident that saw him experience multiple injuries.

Ganguly on Pant’s return

There were a lot of speculations regarding Pant’s return to the game. He has been out of the limelight for a whole year after the accident. The Delhi Capitals fans will still be happy to hear the news that the Gabba hero will be returning this season and leading the side again. Delhi Capitals director of cricket Sourav Ganguly has also given some major details on his return saying “ ‘He has worked very hard to make a comeback. He is confident and wants to play for Delhi Capitals and India. I am extremely happy he is back and hope he gets through the season.”

The only restriction with Pant will be that he has to stay away from keeping for some time. It will still be interesting to see how he can deal with the pressure after a long break away from the game. Pant has always been a natural and charismatic performer on the field and every cricketing fan will be happy to see him back. It will still be a big challenge for him to get back to his absolute best after a long break. Still, the southpaw is one of the best additions to any team he plays and we can’t wait to see him back on the field.
