A shameful record is on the cards for the Indian Team ahead of third T20I

Before this T20I series against South Africa at home, India were enjoying a great run of form in the shortest format of this game. India were on a 12-match winning streak with an eye to making a world record of winning 13 T20I matches on a trot.

However, the dream of making that record got shattered completely as the Proteas managed to defeat the men in blue in both the matches so far. In the absence of KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant completely failed to guide his team in these last two matches. A full-strength South Africa team bamboozled the young Indian side in both these matches with superb performances from players like David Miller, Van der Dussen, and Heinrich Klassen.

India is on the verge of losing eight consecutive matches against South Africa across all formats

After the second T20I loss, India are now on the brink of a shameful record against the same opponent for losing eight games consecutively. It is to be noted that India have lost seven international matches in a row against the Proteas across all formats.

This unfortunate streak started with two Test match losses in South Africa along with three ODI losses. After that, India also failed to win these last two T20Is at home. India last won a match against South Africa in the 1st Test in Centurion. Hence, It will be a huge game for the stand-in captain, Rishabh Pant, and his boys when they will take on South Africa for the third T20I in Visakhapatnam on 14 June 2022 (Tuesday).

This is not the first time that India is facing this kind of shameful threat. India has three previous instances as they experienced a seven-match losing streak against the Proteas in 1995-96, a nine-match losing streak against England in 1974-77, and a ten-match losing streak against Australia in 1998-2000. The streak against the Australians was the worst one which was ended under Sourav Ganguly’s leadership in Nairobi in the KnockOut tournament of the governing body of cricket.
