‘Aaj mai harwa ke aaya’- Fans react as Nicholas Pooran responds to Hardik Pandya’s challenge; wins T20I series for West Indies

The West Indies middle order batsman, Nicholas Pooran recently took a sweet vengeance against Hardik Pandya as the former accepted his challenge to beat him for the gigantic hits. Recently, ahead of the fourth T20I between India and West Indies, the Indian cricket team’s captain Hardik Pandya openly invited Nicholas Pooran to smash boundaries against him. 

Nicholas Pooran could not fulfil the challenge in the fourth T20I match, however, Pooran awaited his revenge, and smashed two gigantic hits against Hardik Pandya, in the crucial fifth match, which was also the series decider. Some fans also believe that Pooran’s hits cost the Indian cricket team the series. After winning the test and ODI series, India lost the T20 series against West Indies by 3-2. 

“If Nicky [Nicholas Pooran] wants to hit, let him hit me and that was the plan, I enjoy such competition. I know he is going to hear this and will come hard at me in the fourth T20I”, said Hardik Pandya ahead of the fourth T20I.

“We lost the momentum when I came in and couldn’t capitalize on the situation. I believe we gonna challenge ourselves. We try to get better. In hindsight, it is fine. We don’t need to explain much. I know how the boys are within the group. We have enough time to figure out.”

“Losing is good at times. On the positive side, we have done a lot of learnings. The boys showed character. Credit to them. They kept coming and tried something new. It is part of the process. It is what I feel at that moment. If I see a situation, I generally prefer something that comes to mind”, said Hardik Pandya in the postmatch ceremony. 

“No rocket science, just my gut feel. Every youngster who is coming in, is showing character. I can’t be more happy when I see a youngster comes in and puts his hand up. A big thank you to everyone. The T20 World Cup would be here. There would be a bigger number then”, added Hardik Pandya after the series loss.
