Mickey Arthur questioned the lack of support in the match for Pakistan against India in the ODI World Cup 2023. There were instances where the Indian team was pumped up by the support from the home crowd. Indian songs like Maa Tujhe Salaam and Chak De India were played in the background after every wicket taken or boundaries hit. But there was no such song in Pakistan.

The Pakistani coach Mickey Arthur pointed out the same. Arthur said that the atmosphere seemed more like the one in Indian bilaterals, than an international event. “Look, I’d be lying if I said… It didn’t seem like an ICC event, tonight, to be brutally honest. It seemed like a bilateral series; it seemed like a BCCI event. I didn’t hear Dil Dil Pakistan coming through the microphones too often tonight,” said Arthur.

Though Arthur pointed it out as an issue, he said that they are not using it as an excuse for their loss against Pakistan. “So yes, that does play a role, but I’m not going to use that as an excuse because for us, it was about living the moment, it was about the next ball and it was about how we were going to combat the Indian players tonight,” added Arthur in the press conference.

‘We didn’t play The Pakistan Way against India’ – Mickey Arthur

Arthur accepted that there are a lot of areas for them to improve in the upcoming matches. “We were timid today; we didn’t play The Pakistan Way against India. This Indian team is a very good cricket team. I think they’re well-led by KL Rahul and Rohit. They look good and have all bases covered. I’m looking forward to meeting them in the final again,” added Arthur.

Arthur said that they have 2 wins under their belt in the three matches and will not panic after their loss against India. “It is a long World Cup, we’ve won two out of three matches, we will not panic and will focus on the next match with patience,” concluded Arthur hoping his team to play with more focus and patience.
