The Indian Cricket team won their eighth successive match versus Pakistan in ODI World Cup history. Rohit Sharma and the Indian bowlers hammered the Pakistanis in the biggest clash of the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament.

The Indian team won their third game in Ahmedabad in front of a capacity crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Pakistan on the other hand will be cursing themselves for the shambolic batting display that was seen on Saturday.

With this win, India now joins New Zealand at the top of the table with three wins from three games. India will next play against Bangladesh in Pune while Pakistan will play Australia in Chennai.

Pakistan was asked to bat after Rohit Sharma won the toss as Shubman Gill came into the team. Abdullah Shafique and Imam Ul Haq gave Pakistan a good start adding 41 runs for the first wicket. The breakthrough came when Siraj trapped Shafique LBW for 20 runs.

Hardik Pandya then got Imam Ul Haq out for 36 when he was caught by KL Rahul. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan seemed like taking the game away from India. The pair added 82 runs for the third wicket with the Indian bowlers looking out of depth.

At 155/2 with Babar Azam on 56, Mohammad Siraj got the big wicket of the Pakistani skipper. This started a procession of wickets as Pakistan were all out for 191 in 42.5 overs. India had taken 8 wickets for just 36 runs to take firm control of the match.

Chasing 192 to win, Shubman Gill delighted the home side with some delightful shots. Shaheen Afridi got Gill for 16 when he was caught by Shadab Khan for 16. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma then added 56 runs for the second wicket in 7 overs.

Virat Kohli was trying to get on top of the Pakistani bowling attack. That’s when Hasan Ali had the former India skipper caught by Rizwan for 16. Shreyas Iyer and Rohit Sharma then took over the run-scoring. The pair added 77 runs for the third wicket as the Indian skipper went past his half-century.

Rohit Sharma was deceived by a slower ball from Shaheen Shah Afridi to be caught by Iftikhar Ahmed for 86. The Indian skipper hit 6 fours and 6 sixes in his knock as he took the game away from Pakistan. The winning runs came when Iyer hit a four to reach his fifty and win the game by 7 wickets with 117 balls left.
