 ‘Ab bhi Babar king hai?’ – Fans react as Abdullah Shafique scores double hundred against Sri Lanka in second Test

After winning the first Test by four wickets, Pakistan is currently locking horns with Sri Lanka in the second and final Test match of the series. After the end of play on day three, the Green Brigade have a slight advantage as they lead by 397 runs after bundling out the hosts for only 166 runs. The highest scorer for the side till now is their opener, Abdullah Shafique. The Men in Green opener scored 201 runs off 326 balls, which included 19 fours and four sixes in his innings.

This is his maiden double-century in Test cricket. He achieved this feat in the 109th over of Pakistan’s first innings. He has constantly performed for Pakistan in the longest format of the game. So far, he has played 26 Tests for Pakistan, where he has scored 1220 runs at an average of 53.04, which included 4 centuries and as many half-centuries with the highest score of 201 runs.

Mohammad Rizwan replaces Sarfaraz Ahmed as concussion substitute 

Earlier, Sri Lanka skipper, Dimuth Karunaratne won the toss and elected to bat first. The hosts, while batting first, were able to score only 166 runs. No batter apart from Dhananjay de Silva was able to score runs. He scored 57 runs from 68 balls, which included nine fours and a six in his innings.

The pick of the bowler for Pakistan was right-arm leg spinner, Abrar Ahmed, who snapped four wickets in his spell of 20.4 overs, where he conceded 69 runs and bowled three maiden overs. Naseem Shah grabbed three wickets in his spell of 14 overs, where he conceded 41 runs and bowled three maiden overs. One wicket was bagged by star Pakistan speedster, Shaheen Afridi.

After the completion of play on Day Three, Pakistan are 563 runs for the loss of five wickets. Agha Salman is batting on 132 runs off 148 balls, which includes 15 fours and a six in his innings, and Mohammad Rizwan is playing at 37 runs from 31 balls, with one four and one six in his innings. Rizwan came in as a concussion replacement for Sarfaraz Ahmed as he got hit by the ball on his head.
