After getting qualified for the ‘Super Four’ of the Asia Cup 2022, India locked horns with Pakistan on 4 September 2022. On the group stage, they met already once. However, India won the match by five wickets in a thrilling encounter. Hence, fans were eagerly waiting again for another nail-biter in Dubai.

Ahead of the match, India confirmed that Ravindra Jadeja will not be a part of the rest of teh tournament. He will miss the tournament due to his knee injury. Even, Rahul Dravid said that Avesh Khan might miss the match due to a fever. However, Babar Azam won the toss and he asked India to bat first. 

Pakistan defeated India by five wickets in the Asia Cup 2022

Speaking of India’s innings, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul came out to open the innings. They scored 50 runs in 4.2 overs. But, Pakistan grabbed both the wickets in quick succession. Then, Virat Kohli came out to play. Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya failed to score big. Meanwhile, Kohli scored 60 runs off 44 balls, including four boundaries and one six. It was his second fifty of this tournament. However, with this inning, India scored 181 runs by losing seven wickets in 20 overs. For Pakistan, Shadab Khan took two wickets. While other bowlers also grabbed a single wicket each.

In response, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam failed again to score big. He departed early after scoring 14 runs off 10 balls only. Fakhar Zaman also tried to settle the ship. But, he also lost his wicket after scoring 15 runs off 18 balls. Then, Pakistan sent Mohammad Nawaz to bat with Rizwan. Nawaz scored 42 runs off 20 balls, including six fours and two sixes. After his wicket, Pakistan was at 139 runs by losing three wickets in 16 overs. But, Asif Ali and Khushdil Shah held their nerves. They managed to chase down the target in 19.5 overs. Thus, Pakistan defeated India by five wickets in the Asia Cup.
