Lionel Messi will leave Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) at the conclusion of the current campaign, according to manager Christophe Galtier on Thursday. In a statement, Galtier expressed his thanks for the chance to mentor Messi, whom he believes to be the best player in football history. Messi will play his final game at Parc des Princes in PSG’s home encounter against Clermont, according to the PSG manager.

“I had the privilege of coaching the best player in the history of football. It will be Leo’s last match at the Parc des Princes against Clermont”, Galtier was quoted as saying.

Will Lionel Messi join FC Barcelona again?

Messi has participated in 74 games for the Ligue 1 team since he joined PSG in 2021. The Argentine struggled in his debut season with the Ligue 1 giants but thrived in his second. The 36-year-old has played for Paris Saint-German and scored 32 goals and given 35 assists. Barcelona, Inter Miami, and Al Hilal are vying for the 36-year-old World Cup victor right now. There have also been rumours concerning the few Premier League teams who have expressed interest in signing the illustrious Argentine.

According to reports, Barcelona has been set a deadline by Lionel Messi to put together a proposal. With a sizable Saudi offer on the table, Messi reportedly warned Barcelona that he won’t hold out for very long and that the Spanish powerhouses have 10 days to write a deal. Notably, Barcelona’s financial situation has been the biggest obstacle to their efforts to convince Messi to return to Camp Nou. La Liga has not yet given the club the go-ahead to finalise the purchase.

A few rumours have also suggested that Barcelona is partnering with MLS franchise Inter Miami in order to make a hybrid bid. The article also stated that Barca and Miami are in discussions over a potential buy-and-loan arrangement for the World Cup champion. Messi would be signed by Inter Miami as a free agent and then given on loan to the Catalan club for a period of 18 months, under the deal. He would then return to Miami after that.
