 Former FC Barcelona player Dani Alves arrested on accusation of sexual assault

Former FC Barcelona and Brazil player, Dani Alves has been accused of sexual assault. As per the victim, the shocking incident happened in December last year. He has been accused of assaulting the victim in a nightclub. Alves has been taken into custody by Spanish police and has been slapped with a non-bailable warrant. Meanwhile, the 39-year-old has denied the allegations.

The former footballer has said that he respected the privacy of others while enjoying himself between 100s of people. He added that he doesn’t know the victim and has never seen her in his life.

“I would like to deny everything, first,” Alves said. “I was there, in that location, with more people, having a good time. Everybody knows that I love to dance. Having a good time, but without invading the space of others.

“I’m very sorry, but I don’t know who that young lady is, I don’t know who she is, I’ve never seen her in my life.”

Liga MX club terminates their contract with Dani Alves: Leopoldo Silva

After Alves’ arrest, his club, LIGA MX club president, Leopardo Silva announced that the contract of Alves has been terminated. In a video statement by the club, it said that the club is an institution that promotes respect and dignified behavior for the their players (male and female).

“Club Universidad makes the decision to terminate the contract with Dani Alves with just cause,” Silva said.

“This is an institution that promotes respect and the correct, dignified and professional behavior of its male and female players both on and off the field because they are role models in Mexico and throughout the world. We cannot permit any conduct that would damage our philosophy.”
