Massive good news for Afghanistan Cricket fans –
As per reports doing the rounds on Tuesday, the Afghanistan Cricket Board is set to end its impasse with three players. Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Naveen Ul Haq will be able to play in the T20 Leagues across the world.
The players have reported told the Afghan board about their willingness to play international cricket once again. It is expected that there will be financial penalties levied on the trio by the Afghan Cricket establishment.
The entire saga began when the three players had refused to sign the central contracts. Mirwaiz Ashraf who is the chief of the board sent out a stark reminder to Afghanistan players.
“We hope the players avoid making similar inconveniences in the future as we expect them to represent the country in the best of manners. The ACB and the rules are above all of us and it’s important to adhere to the regulations because there are no exceptions for anyone in this regard. However, such cases of a similar nature would be dealt with more strictly as we prioritize the prestige of Afghanistan Cricket and the organization”
There is a huge rider and the NOCs that are issued will come with a few restrictions. It will be expected the trio to return to action if and when needed while playing in T20 leagues. Afghanistan are in Group C of the 2024 T20 World Cup. Hosts West Indies, New Zealand, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea are the other teams.
