‘As a bowler, your job is to think about…’ – Ben Stokes talks about 1st Test match against India
England captain Ben Stokes is delighted to win the first Test match against India. The series has started on a good note for the English team and they are hoping to continue their form. The Bazball approach has helped them with a brilliant comeback in the second innings where Ollie Pope scored 196 runs. Due to his fearless batting, England could take a good lead which became the reason for India’s defeat. Moreover, as a player, Stokes always tries to give his best.
Stokes during a press conference said, “As a bowler, your job is to think about taking wickets. As a batsman, it’s about going out there and scoring runs. Anything more than that is overcomplicating it. I’m just taking away that fear and anxiety around the outcome.”
One of the best things about Stokes’ captaincy is his belief in his teammates and follow his intuition. His decision to play with three spinners and one fast bowler was never supported by prior English captains, but Stokes stuck with Tom Hartley even after Yashasvi Jaiswal welcomed him to Test cricket with two sixes in his first over. In the second innings, Hartley shut everyone up by taking seven wickets.
‘Virat Kohli has never been to NCA in his entire career’ – Rohit Sharma praises Virat Kohli for his fitness and dedication
One of the best things about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma is their method of standing for each other through every situation. When Rohit went through a bad time, Kohli supported him and Rohit did the same during Kohli’s bad phase. This shows their strong bond, unlike what surfaces around the Internet. This time, while talking to Dinesh Kartik, Rohit praised Kohli for his fitness and also mentioned that he hasn’t gone to the NCA in his entire career. Sharma emphasized the fact that the youngsters should Kohli as their idol and learn from him.
Rohit said, “Virat Kohli has never been to NCA in his entire career. I would say that all the younger players should look up to the passion that he has. Leave alone how he plays the cover drive, flick, cut but first things first you have to understand what is the quality of the players that makes him where he is today”.”
