Ashton Agar swears at on-field umpire during first ODI against England
Australia and England are currently playing in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Adelaide Oval. The home team won the toss and elected to bowl first. During the Three Lions, the Aussies bowled well for the first half. Meanwhile, during the first innings, Australia’s Ashton Agar got involved in a heated exchange with the umpire. Apparently, one of the umpires wasn’t happy with him moving across the pitch.
“Mate, you can’t just keep running across the wicket,” Paul Rieffel was heard saying on the stump mic. In reply, the left-arm spinner said “What do you mean? I’m trying to anticipate the ball.” Rieffel was not impressed again as he said, “He sent that to mid-wicket, mate. You can’t — you’re getting in the way.” This was when Agar lost his cool and swore “for f***’s sake”.
The pair continued to exchange some words although they could not be heard on the broadcast. Talking about the game, England recovered from 199/7 and reached 287/9, thanks to Dawid Malian’s hundred. For the Aussies, skipper Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa took three wickets each. On the other hand, Agar went wicketless while Mitchell Starc and Marcus Stoinis took one each. Talking about England’s batting, no one could score a fifty apart from Malan.
Australia is making a mockery of the chase
In reply to England’s total, the Australia openers, David Warner and Travis Head have provided a great start. At the time of writing, the pair scored 95/0 in 14 overs at a run rate of 6.78 as opposed to the required run rate of 5.36. Warner has scored 50 off 44 balls including seven fours and a six. On the other hand, Head has scored 39 off 42 balls. At the moment, the visitors need a breakthrough otherwise the Kangaroos are running away with the game.
