‘Dream remains the dream’ – Fans react as Australia beat Pakistan by 8 wickets in Sydney Test to win Test series 3-0
Pat Cummins and Co. had completely outclassed the Pakistan team in the three matches of the Test series, as they went on to defeat them by 3-0 on Saturday. Notably, Australia beat the Shan Masood-led side by eight wickets in the third Test and whitewashed the series at Sydney Cricket Ground on January 5.
Australia have also beaten the Pakistan team in the Perth and Melbourne Test matches, which allows them to have a great start in 2024. Talking about the game here, Pakistan skipper Shan Masood won the toss and invited Australia to field first in the final Test game. Notably, after being opted to bat first, they had a great start and were looking into a great position as they posted 313 runs in the first inning before getting all out.
Undeniably, Australia tried extremely hard to chase the total, but they were bundled out for just 299 runs in the first inning and failed to get the lead. However, they bounced back magnificently, restricted the Pakistani team to just 115 runs, and chased down the total to win the game by 8 wickets.
Boys stepped up and found a way to get us back into the contest: Pat Cummins
Meanwhile, winning skipper Pat Cummins shared his emotions as he had a great start to this summer following a series win. Moreover, the series win over Pakistan was a tribute to star batter David Warner, who had played his last Test in front of his home crowd.
“Really happy with how it’s all gone. Rhythm felt great the whole series. It was my turn this one to take a few wickets, which is great. Don’t think I have to take too much credit for that. Everything seemed to work this summer. A couple of moments where we fell right behind it, but one of the boys stepped up and found a way to get us back into the contest. It’s a great start to the summer so far. A good time to reflect on this series but also the year that’s been and obviously on Davey’s career,” Pat Cummins said in the post-match presentation.
