‘Ban gyi KL Rahul ke lie jagah’ – Shreyas Iyer goes for scans after complaining for the lower back pain during Ahmedabad Test
Indian batter Shreyas Iyer didn’t come out to bat after Ravindra Jadeja got out following a bizarre shot off Todd Murphy‘s delivery in the 107th over of the second inning of the Ahmedabad Test. Iyer has been taken for the scans after complaining of lower pain as confirmed by the Indian Cricket Board
The 28-year-old missed the first Test of the series in Nagpur but was a part of the playing XI in the next two matches in Delhi and Indore respectively. He also fielded in the first inning of the fourth Test but couldn’t join the Indian batting in the second inning. Jadeja was sent ahead of him when Cheteshwar Pujara got out on day three. Later it was confirmed by the Board that he has been taken for scans.
“Shreyas Iyer complained of pain in his lower back following the third day’s play. He has gone for scans and the Indian Cricket Board Medical Team is monitoring him,” said the Indian Cricket Board in a statement.
Virat Kohli eyes on 28th Test hundred
Talking about the match, India started the day four with 289 runs for the loss of 3 wickets with Virat Kohli and Jadeja at the crease. Kohli scored a Test fifty after 14 long months and now is slowly approaching towards his 28th century in the longest format. He last scored a hundred in the format in November 2019 against Bangladesh. Jadeja got out playing an unnecessary shot as he tried to take on Murphy but ended up giving a catch to Usman Khawaja. He got out after scoring 28 off 84 balls.
India are now at 362 for 4 after the first session of day four with 118 runs behind Australia’s total Kohli is unbeaten on 88 runs off 220 balls with five boundaries. KS Bharat is also at the crease with 25 runs off 70 balls with one four and a maximum. Young batter is the main anchor of the Indian inning as he got out after scoring 128 runs off 235 balls on day three. The 23-year-old scored his second Test ton as he scored 12 fours and a six during his innings.
Australia scored 480 runs in the first inning powered by the centuries of Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green. Green scored 114 runs off 170 ball, while Khawaja got out after scoring a mammoth 180 off 422 deliveries.
