The 69th match of the Indian T20 League 2022 saw Delhi take the field against Mumbai. Apart from the two teams playing in the match, the interests of a third team were involved in the match. Bangalore’s players and supporters were keeping a keen eye on the match as the result of the match would have decided their fate in the tournament.

By the courtesy of a way better net run rate than Bangalore, Delhi would have made it to the playoffs defeating Mumbai by any margin. But in a must-win game, Delhi succumbed under pressure and lost the match by 5 wickets. The match turned out to be quite a thriller as it required a brilliant effort from Mumbai’s Tim David to take them over the line in the match. As Mumbai won the match, the Bangalore camp started celebrating, their playoff qualification.

Players like Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, and others were seen turning the party mode on in the pictures shared on Instagram by the franchise. The ecstasy of the camp knew no bounds as Virat Kohli took to Twitter to thank Mumbai for helping them reach the top four. Meanwhile, speaking of Bangalore’s journey ahead, they will be facing Lucknow in Eliminator. The Eliminator will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on 25th May. The winner of this match will advance to Qualifier 2, where the winner of Qualifier 1 will await them. So, for Bangalore to break the jinx and lift their maiden ITL trophy, they need to win three straight matches. Thus, Faf du Plessis and Co. need to buckle up and avoid any kind of slip-ups in the journey ahead.

As far as Bangalore’s performance in the tournament is concerned, they have had a roller coaster ride. While in some matches they looked invincible in some others their performances were below par. The road to the summit will not be easy and would require a near-perfect performance from the team.
