 BCCI’s new diktat for players ahead of the South Africa series

The Indian T20 League 2022 is fast approaching its end. The playoffs and the final are the only clashes left to be played in the tournament. Soon after the intense action of the Indian T20 League ends, the Indian national team will take on South Africa in a five-match T20I series at home.

The 15th edition of the tournament has seen some excellent displays of fielding and fitness by the players. The players have survived the grueling and intense action of the tournament and have proved their fitness all along. But the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wants the players in the South African squad to prove their fitness. BCCI has asked the whole squad along with the skipper, KL Rahul to appear for a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru on the 5th of June. Notably, the series against South Africa will begin on 9th June with the first match being played at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi.

Meanwhile, India will begin their preparations for the T20 World Cup 2022 from the series against South Africa. The national selectors have selected a squad with a mixture of experience and youth in the squad for the series. They have given chance to some of the top performers in the 15th edition of the Indian T20 League. New faces like Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, and Ravi Bishnoi have received a call-up, while veterans such as Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, and Kuldeep Yadav are making a comeback into the national squad.
