Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter, Ambati Rayudu is all set to begin his second innings of life as he is planning to join politics and there are reports that he will contest in the next Lok Sabha elections. However, before all this, the former India batter will be participating in USA’s Mega Cricket League (MCL) for Texas Super Kings led by his former teammate, Faf Du Plessis. Recently, Rayudu met with Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy twice who is also the chief of Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP).

According to the reports in the Times of India, Jagan wants the 37-year-old to contest in the next polls but there is no official commitment from the cricketer yet that will he contest or not. According to sources quoted in the report, senior party politicians believe that Rayudu should choose Machilipatnam for the Lok Sabha election and either Ponnur or Guntur West for the assembly elections.

“CM Jagan Mohan Reddy is a big inspiration for youngsters entering politics. He is spearheading development in all the regions instead of concentrating on one area,” Rayudu was quoted as saying while praising the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister.

There were some instances when I was young when we did not get along: Ambati Rayudu

After winning the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), he announced retirement from all forms of crickets. Although, he will participate in the inaugural edition of the Mega Cricket League for Texas Super Kings, a team owned by Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Rayudu had recently stated in an interview that certain people were hindering his career.

After not being selected for the national team for the 2019 World Cup, he tweeted: “Just ordered a new set of 3D glasses to watch the world cup” in reply to the then Indian Cricket Board President MSK Prasad’s explanation on electing Vijay Shankar that they wanted a player with ‘three-dimensional’ qualities.

“A team selection is not done by an individual. Even if he deliberately wanted to or not, there are many other factors. There were certain people in team management. There was one Hyderabadi person. There were some instances when I was young when we did not get along. Small things which I did not like about them and some they did not like about me. And they have been built over a period of time. These were the same people I have dealt with for my entire career in a cycle,” Rayudu was quoted as saying in the interview with TV9 Telugu.
