‘Bhaiyo Behno, ye laga chauka’ – Rohit Sharma, Steve Smith pose with Narendra Modi, Australian PM ahead of 4th Test
The action begins as India and Australia line up for the fourth and final Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. It is a big match for both sides with the series on the line, and the Prime Ministers of both countries are present in the stadium along with the crowd of more than 100,000 people.
Indian PM Narendra Modi made his appearance along with the Australian PM Anthony Albanese on Day 1 of the fourth Test. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and the Australian captain Steve Smith posed with their Prime Ministers ahead of the toss. As it stands, the home side lead the series 2-1, with India winning the first two matches.
Australia decided to bat, Shami comes in for Siraj
Talking about the match, Australia won the toss and they decided to bat first in the final encounter. The visitors are playing with the same playing XI that made them win the Nagpur Test. Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami has replaced Mohammed Shami in the Indian playing XI. KL Rahul has been benched again and Shubman Gill will open with Rohit. Smith is leading the Australian again as refused Pat Cummins has decided to stay back in Australia due to his mother’s health.
Indian playing XI:
Rohit Sharma(c), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Srikar Bharat(w), Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, and Umesh Yadav.
Australian playing XI:
Usman Khawaja, Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith (c), Peter Handscomb, Cameron Green, Alex Carey (wk), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Todd Murphy, Matthew Kuhnemann.
India are already leading in a four-match series by 2-1, and a win in the Ahmedabad Test will not only make them win the series but also book their spot in the Test championship final. Australia have already qualified for the final after a nine-wicket win in Indore. The visitors still need to win the final Test in order to draw the series and prevent another loss from India.
