Bhuvneshwar Kumar is currently down the pecking order to get a palace in Team India across all three formats. He last played for the Men in Blue in November 2022. In 2018, he last played a Test for India. Recently, due to injury setbacks, he has found difficulties in making a comeback to the team.

Now, on 27 July, he sparked speculations of his retirement from the game by changing his Instagram bio. Earlier, his Instagram bio was ‘Indian Cricketer’ with an Indian flag. But, now, he has changed it to only ‘Indian’ with an Indian flag. So, seeing that fans went crazy and surprised.

Here is the change of bio:

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has played 229 international matches for India across all three formats

Speaking about Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s career, he has played 21 Tests so far and grabbed 63 wickets, at an economy of 2.94. In 121 ODIs, he has taken 141 scalps while in 87 T20Is, he has taken 90 wickets. In IPL 2023, Bhuvneshwar was in action for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The veteran pacer took 16 wickets in 14 matches, at an economy of 8.33. His best figure of five wickets for 30 runs in four overs came against Gujarat Titans (GT). Seeing the currently available options for Team India, it seems unlikely to consider him ahead of the mega events like the 2023 ODI World Cup and 2024 20-20 World Cup.

Speaking about his chances of making a comeback, a few months back, the former Test spinner and a member of the selection committee, Gopal Sharma said: “It’s tough but not impossible for Bhuvneshwar to stage a comeback in Team India as the present lot of pace bowlers are doing well for the country. What he needs to do now is to play in the domestic circuit and give his best to draw the attention of the selectors.” However, he was a part of Team India during the 2022 20-20 World Cup in Australia. He also had a decent tournament by picking up four wickets in six matches, at an economy of 6.16.
