The Season One finalist was in action for the season four title. Both teams were looking for their second titles with Perth being the defending champions. Meanwhile, batting first, the Sixers amassed 147/5 with Moises Henriques scoring 77 and Carters providing the finishing touches with an unbeaten 35.
In reply, the Scorchers needed eight runs in the last over. Brett Lee, who was playing his last professional game, bowled the last over. After being hit for four runs, Lee struck back with back-to-back wickets. In the end, the team needed to defend one run on the last ball. However, Henriques’ poor throw at the non-striking end meant that the Scorchers defended their title.
