‘Kaash is baar RCB bhi jeet jaye’ – Fans react as Brisbane Heat beat Sydney Sixers to take second Big Bash League title

Brisbane Heat won the BBL finals.

Brisbane Heat won their second Big Bash League (BBL) title after a long wait of 11 years. They defeated the Sydney Sixers by 54 runs in the finals. Throughout the tournament, Sydney Sixers played some amazing cricket and became the first team to reach the BBL finals. However, one bad day cost them the match. Now, the Heat have entered the multiple title-winning club along with Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers.

The match started with the Sixers winning the toss and choosing to bowl first. Even though they managed to take one early wicket, the second wicket came in after a long time. Josh Brown (53) and Nathan McSweeney (33) built a good partnership which helped the Heat set up a base. Later, Matt Renshaw (40) played a sensible inning which helped Heat put up 165 runs on the scoreboard. Sean Abbot’s spell was quite astounding as he took four wickets at an economy of 8.

Even though Heat’s bowling was good, the batters couldn’t help them win their sixth title. The entire team shattered with 112 runs. Three of their batters got out on a duck. No other batter went past the 30-run mark and that was because of Spencer Johnson’s bowling. Johnson was in a whole different mood today as he took four wickets at an economy of 6.50. Nonetheless, with this, the 13th season of BBL ended.

‘Brisbane Heat has changed my life’ – Spencer Johnson at the post-match presentation

Spencer Johnson played a huge role as the Brisbane Heat went on to win their second BBL title. His fierce bowling troubled the batters and didn’t allow them to settle even for a moment. His attacking bowling kept giving the Heat regular wickets and with that, they won the match. Even after playing some quality cricket, the Sydney Sixers lost the match. Moreover, Johnson won the Player of the Final.

In the post-match presentation, Johnson said, “Pretty special. We wanted to make amends after last year. Nice to contribute. Credit to the Sixers. They have been awesome. Credit to the bowlers and batters. Brisbane Heat has changed my life!”
