Bangalore was in action against Lucknow in the Eliminator of the Indian T20 League 2o22 at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata. Bangalore played their ‘Bold’ brand of cricket to emerge victorious in the contest by a margin of 14 runs. It was on the back of a brilliant batting performance by Rajat Patidar (112 of 54) and a fiery little cameo by Dinesh Karthik (37 off 23) that Bangalore posted a huge total of 207 runs in their 20 overs. The bowlers did a great job in defending the total and in the process, Bangalore kept themselves alive in the tournament. Next, they will be playing Rajasthan in the Qualifier 2 today, 27th May at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

But what comes as a piece of big and shocking news for the Bangalore camp, their star player and an integral part of the team Dinesh Karthik has admitted to breaching the Indian T20 League of conduct. As per the reports Karthik has admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.3 of the Indian T20 League Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction.

However, the whole incident has not yet come to the forefront it is being speculated that the he committed the offence while batting in the match. He missed a couple of balls and was clearly heard abusing on the stump microphone. The punishment that Karthik will be facing has also not been revealed yet, but it has to be kept in mind that in case of Level 1 breaches, the Match referee’s decision is final and binding.

Speaking of Level 1 offence of ITL’s Code of Conduct’s Article number 2.3, it reads – “Article 2.3 covers the use of words commonly known and understood to be offensive, obscene and/or profane (in any language) and which can be heard by the spectators and/or the viewing public whether by way of the stump-microphone or otherwise. This conduct may include, for example, swearing in frustration at one’s own play or fortune.”
