Big Blow for Mumbai- Star Bowler punished for Breaching Code of Conduct
The Mumbai team is not having a great time in the Indian T20 League 2022. They have lost all three matches played till now in the tournament. It seems their wows are not going to end quickly. Mumbai’s main bowler, Jasprit Bumrah has now been fined for breaching the Indian T20 League code of conduct.
A press release by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the latest development on the star Indian bowler. Bumrah has apparently accepted the sanction for a level 1 offense, according to the Indian T20 League’s code of conduct. The press release on part of the BCCI stated – “Jasprit Bumrah from Mumbai has been reprimanded for breaching the ITL Code of Conduct during his teams’ match against Kolkata at Pune.”
Along with Bumrah, Kolkata’s middle-order batter Nitish Rana has also been fined for a level 1 offense. According to the press release by BCCI, the batter has been fined 10 percent of his match fee. “Nitish Rana from Kolkata has been reprimanded and fined 10 percent of his match fee for breaching the ITL’s code of conduct during his team’s match against Mumbai at Pune. Rana admitted to the Level 1 offence of the ITL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction,”- the media release from BCCI stated.
The press release, however, did not exactly clarify the breach on the part of the players.
Speaking of the match between Kolkata and Mumbai, the former won the game by 5 wickets after Mumbai set them a target of 162 runs. Pat Cummins played an unbelievable knock to turn the game completely in favour of Kolkata. In the process, Cummins scored a half-century in just 14 deliveries. This now is the joint-fastest half-century in the history of the tournament.
