Big victory for all the unjabbed’ – Fans rejoice as Novak Djokovic wins 10th Australian Open and equals Rafael Nadal’s tally of Grand Slams
Tennis veteran Novak Djokovic won his 10th Australian Open title on Sunday at Rod Laver Arena as he beat Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) in the final. Djokovic got emotional after winning his 22nd Grand Slam Title overall as he climbed to his player’s box after the win to embrace his mother and broke down in uncontrollable tears, collapsing to the ground sobbing.
Djokovic’s father Srdjan was not present in the stands after he sparked a controversy by posing with a fan carrying a Russian flag featuring Vladimir Putin’s face following his son’s quarter-final win.
Courtesy of his emphatic win, Djokovic has returned to no. one position in the ATP rankings and has extended his winning streak at the hard-court tournament to a remarkable 28 matches.
After not being allowed to compete in the Australian Open a year ago for not being vaccinated against COVID-19, the 35-year-old has made an incredible comeback. Djokovic was deported back from the country for refusing to get a vaccine for the fatal disease.
Djokovic’s 10th trophy in Australia adds to the record he already held. His 22 major championships — which include seven from Wimbledon, three from the U.S. Open and two from the French Open — are tied with Rafael Nadal for the most by a man in the history of tennis.
Nadal also took to Instagram to wish the World No. 1 on his marvellous victory in Melbourne. “Congrats Nole, to you and your team for this great achievement. Enjoy the moment,” he wrote.
Incredible effort, again. Many congratulations: Roger Federer
Djokovic maintained his perfect record in the finals of the Australian Open, which include two final victories over Rafael Nadal. Nadal, who won the Australian Open 2022 title, lost to Mckenzie MacDonald of America in the second round after struggling with a hip injury that he picked up in Melbourne.
20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer also congratulated Novak Djokovic for his success in Melbourne. Federer, who has won the Australian Open crown 6 times, retired from the sport in 2022 after the Laver Cup.
“Incredible effort, again. Many congratulations,” Federer wrote in an Instagram story for Djokovic.
Meanwhile, Twitter was abuzz with reactions on Novak Djokovic’s victory. Here are some of the Tweets:

Being detained and deported, losing his 1st place then coming back one year later, winning and becoming number one in the world again, that 10th victory of Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open is one of the biggest achievement in the history of sport.

if there is one person whom I never minded if Novak lost to, it was you. You are a pure soul like him.
How I wish the injuries spared you, you always belonged to that very top.— Nikita Blaise (@NikitaBlaise) January 30, 2023

Strong No. Djokovic is a beast physically. I fact that's where he has edge over both Roger and Rafa
