Star West Indies batter, Chris Gayle showed his love for the forthcoming World Cup 2023 match between India and Pakistan. Gayle compared the match between India and Pakistan to The Ashes which is played between Australia and England. “It is going to be the most exciting game of the World Cup. In any World Cup, it is like the final game. We know how that rivalry is. It is just a crazy sold-out game,” Gayle was quoted as saying in the NDTV.

Further, he stated that he is not happy with the performance of the West Indies Cricket Team in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 Qualifiers in Zimbabwe.  “It would be disappointing to see if they are not in the World Cup in India,” the left-hand opener asserted.

If I was in their position I would want a lot more: Chris Gayle

The 43-year-old believes that India and Pakistan players should demand a lot more money for an all-important clash in the 2023 edition of the ODI World Cup. The rivalry between India and Pakistan is considered one of the greatest rivalries in the history of cricket, and this fixture is one of those which is watched by almost everyone across the globe. The Men in Blue will lock horns against Men in Green on October 15 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium, in Ahmedabad.

“Whenever those teams play, especially in a World Cup, the revenues they generate is humongous. One game can take care of the entire main event. Pakistan and India players should demand a lot of money for those games because those games are high-paid games TV-wise. I don’t control the board or the Apex Cricket Council. If I was in their position I would want a lot more,” Gayle added breaking into a burst of laughter.

In the ODI World Cup 2023, Pakistan will play in five of the 10 locations in India. Pakistan’s first two games will be played in Hyderabad, while the highly anticipated encounter versus India will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. There will be two games each in Bengaluru, Chennai, and Kolkata for the arch-rivals.
