Breaking! The World Cup Winning Captain Eoin Morgan Draws Curtains On His International Career
The World Cup-winning captain, Eoin Morgan announces his retirement from the International cricket on 28 June 2022. After the conclusion of the recent ODI series against the Netherlands, various reports were suggesting that Morgan is most likely to retire from all the formats of the game. He had another forgettable series with the bat against the Dutch as he failed to contribute.
He also played in several T20 Leagues across the globe. Recently, he was the captain of the Kolkata franchise in the last year’s Indian T20 League. Now, the Governing Body of Cricket came up with a tweet that Eoin Morgan had announced his retirement from the International cricket.

Speaking about the incident, the Chief Executive of the Governing Body of Cricket, Geoff Allardice congratulated him on his fantastic career since 2006. He said: “Eoin was an exceptional talent from his early days with the Ireland team and over the years he developed into a top-class batter and captain, leading England’s resurgence in limited-overs cricket culminating in that quite extraordinary World Cup victory at Lord’s in 2019. On behalf of the Governing Body of Cricket, I congratulate him for an outstanding career and wish him every success in the next phase of his career.”
Speaking about his career, he represented both Ireland and England in his career. He played 379 matches across all the formats and scored 10859 runs. As per some records, he was the most successful T20I captain in International cricket. He won 42 out of the 72 matches he has led in T20Is.
This 35-year-old batter was known as the most successful cricketer and leading runscorer for England in ODIs. He scored 6957 runs in 225 matches. He led England in 126 ODI matches and he won 76 out of those, with a win percentage of 65.25. His best moment as the ODI captain of England was the World Cup victory in 2019 at Lord’s against New Zealand. Morgan was also a very successful T20I cricketer as he scored 2458 runs in 115 matches including 14 half-centuries.
