India set England a huge target –

India resumed the day with Kuldeep Yadav and Shubman Gill as the overnight batters. Yashasvi Jaiswal came out to bat when Gill was run out for 91 after confusion with Kuldeep Yadav.

Kuldeep Yadav who was batting well also fell when he was caught by Joe Root off Rehan Ahmed. At 258/4 it felt as if the England side was making a comeback into the contest. That’s when Yashasvi Jaiswal opened his arms and began to flay the English bowling.

After a careful and watchful start to the innings, Jaiswal reached his 150 soon after. Once the landmark was crossed, the Mumbai batter didn’t hold back as he hit the English bowlers.

The 200 came and there were subdued celebrations as Jaiswal yet again took off his helmet. Sarfaraz Khan played the spinners well and hit them for boundaries at will. The 26-year-old had scored 62 runs in the first innings before he was run out.

It seemed as if Sarfaraz was destined for a Test century on debut. Rohit Sharma and India declared with an overall lead of 556. Ravichandran Ashwin is expected to be back as was reported at the start of the day. The veteran Indian bowler has flown back to the ground after going to Chennai to be with his mother.
