‘Can’t keep him away’ – Fans go berserk as Suresh Raina returns to Indian T20 League

Suresh Raina missing a season of the Indian T20 League is impossible. Even after not getting a team for the 15th edition of the tournament, he is set to make an appearance in the league. However, he is not returning as a player but as a commentator.

Suresh Raina has played 205 Indian T20 League matches, scoring 5528 runs at an average of 32.51. He was one of the most important pieces in the Chennai batting order. Previously, Raina just missed one season of the tournament in 2020 due to personal reasons. However, he was a part of the team again in 2021 when Chennai finished the tournament as the champions for the 4th time.

In the mega auction before the Indian T20 League 2022, fans were surprised to see Chennai not bidding for Raina. Other teams also did not show interest in him and ultimately the star batter went unsold. Raina was not considered as a replacement even when a few players pulled out of the tournament.

A few days back rumours went ripe that Ravi Shastri and Suresh Raina might take up the role of commentators for the upcoming season. Much to the ecstasy of the fans, the news has finally been confirmed by the broadcaster, Star Sports. The news was announced by Star Sports through a Tweet from their official Twitter page. They posted a picture of a microphone and a note reading – ‘TO MR. Indian T20 League, WITH LOVE & ANTICIPATION.” They captioned the Tweet – “He’s been all class on the field with bat and ball, now its time for the microphone! Guess who we’re talking about and watch this space for more updates #YehAbNormalHai.”

The Tweet was flooded with love as it earned 3.5k likes within hours. The fans started commenting excitedly revealing the love and fan base Suresh Raina enjoys. The fans are excitedly waiting for his commentary specially during Chennai’s matches.
