‘Carnage at Indore!’ – Fans Shower Praise After West Indies Legends Defeat England Legends In The Road Safety World Series 2022
On 17 September 2022, West Indies Legends took on England Legends in Indore in the Road Safety World Series. It was the ninth match of the tournament where West Indies Legends won the toss. They asked England to bat first. For England Legends, Phil Mustard and Mal Loye came out to open the innings. However, they were struggling as they lost two wickets after scoring only 30 runs in 5.2 overs.
Then, Ian Bell and Darren Maddy tried to settle the ship. Bell scored 46 runs off 43 balls while Maddy got out on 23 runs off 23 balls. They started exceptionally well as they scored fifty each. Perkins scored 57 runs off 35 balls, including 10 fours before he got retired not-out. West Indies lost their first wicket in 11.3 overs while they reached 120 runs already. Another opener, Smith continued carnage in Indore as he smashed 73 runs off 42 balls. He scored those runs at a strike rate of 173.80, including nine fours and three sixes.
Then, former West Indies great and skipper Brian Lara came out to bat. He remained not out on 22 runs off 21 balls, including two fours and a six. Thus, they managed to chase down the target with ease with eight wickets to spare. They even managed it with 16 balls to go. With this win, West Indies reached the top of the table with five points from three games. On the other hand, England Legends’ struggle continued as they are now in the sixth position with one point from three games.
