‘Cheater Pakistan bought umpires’ – Twitter trolls on-field umpire in Pakistan vs Bangladesh game for poor umpiring

Bangladesh and Pakistan have been locking horns for a place in the semifinals of the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022 in Adelaide. After the Netherlands win against South Africa, the ongoing game came alive which otherwise would have been almost a dead game. Now, both Asian sides have their fate in their own hands. Meanwhile, this game has been marred by poor umpiring.

Apparently, in the 11th over of the game, Pakistan leggie Shadab Khan bowled a yorker to Shakib Al Hasan. The latter was facing his first ball after Soumya Sarkar went back into the sheds. Meanwhile, facing the first ball, the Bangladesh skipper tried to block the ball but was hit on his shoe. The on-field umpire gave him out. After this, Hasan decided to challenge the on-field decision.

After watching the replays, the third umpire ‘deemed no bat involved’ and asked the on-field umpire to stay with the decision. However, it was clear that the ball kissed the inside edge of Shakib’s willow before hitting his shoe. The veteran all-rounder had to return to the dug out dejected. On the other hand, the fans are criticizing the umpires and trolling them mercilessly on Twitter.

Pakistan likely to qualify for the semis

Talking about the game, the 2009 winners are likely to reach the semis at the time of writing. After the double blow from Shadab Khan, the Bangladesh Tigers haven’t been able to recover and could only amass 127/8 at the end of the innings. Khan ended with those two wickets after bowling four overs and conceding 30 runs. Speaking on Shakib’s wicket, he said ‘Umpire gave it out, so it’s out’. Meanwhile, Pakistan openers, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam have come out to bat.

Now, both players are out of form but would like to gain some in the game where they don’t need to chase a big target. However, they would also need to put behind the horrors of Zimbabwe where they failed to chase 130-odd runs.
