 Chelsea Starts Investigation Against The Alleged Racist Abuse To Son Heung-min at Stamford Bridge

On 14 August 2022, Chelsea met with Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge for the second match of their Premier League campaign. However, the match ended as a draw. But, an alleged racist incident took place during the match. Son Heung-min of Spurs is known as a versatile player for his club. Now, it was alleged that he got racially abused during the match by a member of the crowd.

However, the Premier League has always looked to stand against racial activities. Hence, Chelsea is not an exception also. The club decided to start a proper investigation of that incident with a promise of the strongest action.

“We are investigating this incident and individual will face the strongest action from the club.” – Chelsea on Son Heung-min incident

Speaking of the incident, a section of the crowd racially abused Son Heung-min. Now, an official statement came out from Chelsea. The statement said: “Chelsea Football Club finds any form of discriminatory behaviour totally abhorrent. It has no place at Chelsea or in any of our communities,”

It also added the club never tolerates such abusive actions from fans. “Chelsea FC has consistently made its zero-tolerance position on discriminatory behaviour very clear, yet there are still idiots like this that attach themselves to this club as so-called ‘fans’, which shames Chelsea, FC, our coaches, players, staff, and our true supporters. We are investigating this incident and, if identified, this individual will face the strongest action from the club.”

Speaking of the match, Both teams came into that match after winning their first game. However, fans did not get disappointed as both the teams displayed a great level of football. It was Harry Kane’s 96th-minute equalizer that drew the game for Spurs against Chelsea. Eventually, Chelsea concede twice after taking a lead in that match. However, things got heated up when managers of both teams clashed with each other after the final whistle. Meanwhile, players came up and separated them to avoid any further scenes at Stamford Bridge.
