Chennai CEO Reveals The Future Of MS Dhoni Ahead Of Indian T20 League 2023
In the last edition of the Indian T20 League, Chennai finished ninth on the table. They won only four matches where they grabbed eight points. However, in that season, Ravindra Jadeja was the initial captain of the franchise. But, in the middle of the tournament, Jadeja handed the baton again to MS Dhoni.
After such a disastrous season, there are several rumours of a rift between Jadeja and Chennai. But, as of now, nothing has been confirmed officially. However, on 4 September 2022, Chennai CEO Kasi Vishwanathan confirmed that MS Dhoni will lead the side once again in the next season.

Speaking to InsideSport, Chennai CEO Kasi Vishwanathan said that there was no chance in their stance regarding MS Dhoni as their captain for the next season. He said: “There is no change in our stance. We never said that there will be a change. Dhoni will continue as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings for Indian T20 League 2023 as well.”
Speaking about the last season, Dhoni left the captaincy of the franchise. Hence, Jadeja became the new captain of this team. Meanwhile, they lost six out of eight matches. So, Jadeja returned back the captaincy duties to MS Dhoni. Eventually, Dhoni also won two matches in the remaining six games. But, with this massive update, it gets confirmed that MS Dhoni will definitely play in the Indian T20 League 2023.
After the conclusion of the last edition, there were clouds regarding his participation in the next season. Therefore, Chennai fans will be happy and relieved with the news that he will continue to lead this team. Speaking about Dhoni’s legacy in this franchise, he has made this franchise champion four times as captain. As an individual, he has played 234 matches in this tournament so far. He has scored 4978 runs, including 24 fifties. Apart from it, he has managed to be involved in 174 dismissals (135 catches, 39 stumpings) from behind the stump.
