According to reports, Chennai’s star all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja is likely to be ruled out of the remainder of the Indian T20 League 2022. Jadeja suffered an injury in his upper body during Chennai’s match against Bangalore. Jadeja bowled well in that game. He conceded only 20 runs but couldn’t pick a wicket in his spell of four overs. With the bat, however, he fell cheaply for 3 runs in 5 balls. Chennai lost that game by 13 runs.

Jadeja was ruled out of the next game against Delhi, which the Men in Yellow won by 91 runs. The Chennai camp is assessing Jadeja’s injury for the last two days. If he takes part further into the tournament, his injury might aggravate. Given that Chennai’s hopes of reaching the playoffs are hanging by a thread, the franchise don’t want to risk him playing any further in the tournament.

Chennai only have three matches left to play in the league stage. If either Bangalore or Rajasthan manage to win one more game, then Chennai would be knocked out of race for the playoffs. Thus, the franchise has decided to give Ravindra Jadeja rest for the rest of the season.

It’s fair to say that Ravindra Jadeja’s hasn’t had a great season for Chennai this year in the Indian T20 League. He failed to deliver both with the bat and with the ball. Prior to the start of the tournament, he was handed over the captaincy. He couldn’t live up to the expectations as under his leadership, the Yellow Army suffered defeats in the first four matches.

Chennai dished out underwhelming performances and, as a result, Jadeja handed over the captaincy back to MS Dhoni midway during the tournament. In 10 matches, he could only manage to score 116 runs at a strike rate of 118.37. Besides, he picked 5 wickets in 10 matches at 49.60.

Chennai are slated to play their next match against Mumbai on Thursday at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
