Chetan Sakariya opens up on his conversation with Virat Kohli when he joined the team as a newcomer
Ahead of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, the likes of Mukesh Choudhary and Chetan Sakariya traveled with the Indian team. The duo went with the team as net bowlers. Meanwhile, during the trip, they met former India skipper Virat Kohli, who was part of the playing squad. The images of the trio’s meeting went viral on social media. Meanwhile, Sakariya has opened up about the experience of meeting Kohli.
The former Rajasthan player in the Indian T20 League revealed that he and Choudhary were nervous. However, the 24-year-old, Sakariya revealed that Virat asked him to treat this meeting just like any other meeting with a family member. Notably, the meeting happened in Perth when India was playing some of the warm-up games.
“When Mukesh Bhai and I went there, we were too nervous and used to stay together. But all the senior players are very good at heart. Virat bhai told me, ‘Don’t get nervous. Treat this just like an outing with your family. Just think that you’re playing in the ITL [Indian T20 League],” the left-arm bowler said during an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda
“I remember every single experience of the 20-20 World Cup very well. I travelled in business class for the very first time and it was a different experience altogether.
Was ‘shocked’ to see the way Virat Kohli handled fans: Chetan Sakariya
The Bhavnagar-born player further added that he was ‘shocked’ to see the way Kohli handled his fans. Chetan praised Virat by saying that the way the latter handled the fans made him realize that only the legends of the game can show such calmness.
“I was shocked to see the calmness with which big players like Virat Kohli handled their fans when they swarmed around them for photos and autographs. I realized that only legends of the game can show such calmness.”
