‘Chore hove ya Chori, jeet to jeet hove hai’ – Mumbai continues their dominance with hat trick of wins in Women’s T20 League 2023
Mumbai and Delhi locked horns in the seventh game of the ongoing Women’s T20 League 2023 at the D.Y. Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai. Ahead of the game, both teams were going unbeaten in the tournament. Both teams played two games each before this game and won as many. Meanwhile, in the game, Delhi won the toss and elected to bat first.
However, the team had a poor start as they lost three wickets for 31 runs. The likes of Shafali Varma, Alice Capsey, and Marizanne Kapp lost their wickets inside the first seven overs. At this stage, the likes of skipper Meg Lanning and Jemimah Rodrigues put together 50 runs. When they looked like taking the team forward, both got out in the 13th over of the innings.
This led to a collapse as India’s national capital-based side went from 81/3 to 105 all-out. Nine out of their batters got out without getting to the double-digit mark. For the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai side, Saika Ishaque, Hayley Matthews, and Issy Wong took three wickets each. One wicket was picked by Pooja Vastrakar.

In reply, Mumbai got off to a great start as Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews put together 65 runs in 8.5 overs. This partnership pretty much ensured that the team will win the game without many hiccups. Talking about Bhatia, she scored 41 off 32 including eight fours. On the other hand, Matthews got 32 off 31 balls including six fours.
After they got out in the ninth and 12th overs respectively, the likes of Nat Sciver-Brunt and skipper Kaur took the team over the line. The team won the game by eight wickets and five overs to spare.

#DCvMI very staid captaincy by Lanning. Aggression and not economy was the only hope.
Introduced Tara Norris too late.
