‘Cricket mai koi agar magar nahi hota’ – Fans react as Pat Cummins recalls Virat Kohli’s dropped catch in group stage of ODI World Cup 2023

India and Australia are taking on each other in the ODI World Cup 2023 final. The big match is set to take place in the world’s biggest stadium in Ahmedabad. A record crowd is expected to attend the match between the two best teams in the world. At Narendra Modi stadium, the two teams would be taking on each other in the second match of the tournament.

In the group stage of the tournament, the two teams faced each other at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In the match, India reduced Australia to a total of 199 runs on a tricky wicket to bat on. Defending it, Australia had India at 2/3 in just the 2nd over of the match. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood were on fire, as they got the ball to swing and seam respectively. The Indian openers returned to the hut quickly.

Australia almost got the fourth wicket, as Virat Kohli had committed a blunder. When India was 20/3, Hazlewood bowled a short delivery. Virat did not time the ball well and it went straight up to the sky. Mitchell Marsh and the wicketkeeper Alex Carey were below the opportunity. Eventually, Marsh attempted the catch, but could not hold on to it, which was a big relief for India.

‘We’ve had success against this team’ – Pat Cummins

Virat’s catch proved costly for Australia, as he and KL Rahul took India to a win in the run chase. Since then, the two teams have come a long way to face each other in the final. Before the final, Pat Cummins had arrived at the press conference. In the questioning session, Cummins was asked about Virat Kohli’s form and the plans to tackle him.

The Australian captain felt that they had won over Virat, as they nearly had him in the group stage match of the tournament. Cummins said that if the dropped catch did not happen, they would have gone on to win the match. “We were one Virat Kohli’s catch away from winning the previous match. We’ve had success against this team,” said Cummins in the press conference.
