All teams are gearing up for the mega event of the 20-20 World Cup later this year in Australia. Australia, as the reigning champions, will look to retain it again on their home soil. Now, as per reports, the apex body of Cricket had instructed all the boards to submit their 15-member squad by 15 September.

Speaking about Team India, the Team has four more series to finalize the players for this year’s World Cup. India is scheduled to play three bilateral series against Ireland, England, and West Indies. Then, they will participate in the Asia Cup starting on 27 August 2022.

Those 17-18 players have already been shortlisted: Sanjay Bangar

Speaking about some names for the final selection, former Indian player Sanjay Manjrekar opened up on the selection of the Mumbai batter, Suryakumar Yadav. He said: “I think he has already confirmed his ticket to Australia. We have seen a lull in a lot of players’ performances, Rishabh Pant for example, but I doubt whether they will drop him for that big-ticket to Australia. So Suryakumar Yadav has already proved his worth beyond any doubt. So injury notwithstanding, I see him having that one seat confirmed on that flight to Australia.”

Apart from him, another former Indian player, Sanjay Banger also shared his views by stating that maybe 17-18 players are already being shortlisted. The players, who performed well in this South Africa series and who were given rest, are already on the list for the World Cup in Australia. “So, some players have been selected in the squad to give them that experience. I believe that the 11 players who have played in this series so far, and the first-team players who are rested, I think those 17-18 players have already been shortlisted (for the 20-20 World Cup squad),” Bangar concluded.

India just finished a home series of five-match T20Is against South Africa at a margin of 2-2 (the last match got abandoned due to rain). Now, India will visit Ireland for playing a two-match T20I series under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, starting on 26 June 2022.
