Croatian midfielder Luka Modric extends his contract with Real Madrid ahead of upcoming season

Star Croatian midfielder Luka Modric has extended his contract with Real Madrid for the upcoming season. Despite receiving lucrative deals from Middle Eastern clubs, the Croatian international decided to stay at his sweet home’ only. The Croatia international has now joined veteran Toni Kroos in committing to Madrid for another 12 months.
Madrid brought in Modric from Tottenham in 2012, and the playmaker has won almost 20 titles at the Santiago Bernabeu, including five Champions League triumphs. Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia had targeted Modric, but he chose to stay in the Spanish capital. Reacting to his deal with Madrid, Modric said, “Home Sweet Home.”
The midfield positions at Real Madrid will be fiercely contested next season. Modric and Kroos have already extended their contracts to continue at the club, while they will be joined by Jude Bellingham in the upcoming season. Carlo Ancelotti can also call on Aurélien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, and Fede Valverde.
Luka Modric has had an illustrious career for Madrid
Speaking about his time with Madrid, Modric has had a great time. In 488 appearances, he won 23 trophies, including five Champions Leagues, five Club World Cups, four European Super Cups, three La Liga crowns, two Copa del Reys, and four Spanish Super Cups.
Modric has won the most prestigious individual awards during his Real Madrid career, including the 2018 Ballon d’Or, the 2018 FIFA Best Player of the Year Award, the 2017/18 UEFA Player of the Year Award, and the 2017 Club World Cup Golden Ball. This season, he was named to the FIFA/FIFPro World XI for the sixth time. He also won the Golden Ball in Russia and the Bronze Ball in Qatar at the World Cup.
Meanwhile, a quote about Luka Modric has surfaced after the announcement of the deal. The former coach of Real Madrid, Jose Mourinho, has predicted Modric. He has said, “All I ask you Madridistas is to give Luka Modri time and be patient. He’s so good that the Santiago Bernabéu will fall in love with his class.”
