CSA announce revised schedule for India series, tour to kick off on December 26
Cricket South Africa have announced the revised schedule for the India tour of South Africa. The series will now get underway on December 26 in Centurion, with the first Test. The second Test will be played in Johannesburg from January 3-7 followed by the final Test from January 11 in Cape Town.
The ODI series will begin on January 19 in Paarl, with matches on January 21 and 23 in Paarl and Cape Town respectively. Traditionally, Cape Town host the New Year Test in South Africa but given the logistical challenges, the match was allocated to Johannesburg.
There were serious doubts about the series going ahead owing to the rising threat of Omicron in South Africa. However, BCCI decided to go ahead with the tour with little modifications. The boards mutually decided to postpone the T20I series and go ahead with the Test and ODI leg of the tour.
The tour was earlier set to start on January 17. However, it has been pushed back by almost a week. The BCCI is yet to announce the squad for the series as well.
