The controversy involving former Pakistani players Danish Kaneria and Shahid Afridi is seemingly nowhere near its end. The incident started with Kaneria disclosing that Shahid Afridi never wanted him to be a part of the Pakistan team and also called him a liar and manipulator.

Shahid Afridi did not either mince his words while replying to Kaneria’s allegations. He asked Kaneria to look into his own character saying- “And the person saying all this, look at his own character,”- quoting him from The News.

While taking a dig at Kaneria’s involvement in the spot-fixing scandal, he also said that – “He is accusing me to get cheap fame and make money. Kaneria was like my younger brother and I played with him in the department for many years.”

Afridi also questioned the timing of the allegation and sleveledtated that Kaneria speaking about it in the media of ‘enemy country might incite religious sentiments.’ To quote Afridi – “Everyone knows about his character. If my attitude was bad then why he did not complain to the Pakistan Cricket Board or the department he was playing for. He is giving interviews to our enemy country which can incite religious sentiments.”

In a recent development, Danish Kaneria has taken to Twitter to reply to this particular comment of Afridi, where he termed India an ‘enemy country.’ Kaneria posted the source of Afridi’s interview and captioned it – “India is not our enemy country. Our enemies are those who instigate people in the name of religion.

If you consider India as your enemy, then don’t ever go to any Indian media channel. @SAfrdiOfficial”

Cricket followers will be keeping an eye on this controversy. Whether Shahid Afridi gives another reply to Kaneria and the topic catches more fire or this is where it ends will be interesting to see.
